The Denver Nuggets earned their first NBA title after beating former champions Miami Heat 94-89 to complete a 4-1 series win in the finals of the NBA at Ball Arena in Denver on Monday night.

The Nuggets who were denied a series sweep after their game-four loss to the Heat made no mistake in the fifth game with a spirited performance to cool down any intention of a Miami comeback.

They were made to sweat a little bit for the win as they trailed the Heat 51-44 at half-time after giving up the first and second quarters 22-24

Jimmy Butler with 21 points again the main spark for Miami as they made the game interesting going into the break.

However, spurred on by home crowd support the Nuggets narrowed the deficit to one, after taking the third quarter 26-20, before completing the comeback with an inspired 24-18 fourth-quarter performance to clinch a historic championship in Denver.

MVP Nikola Jokic with 28 points and 16 rebounds was named the Championship finals MVP, adding to his Conference finals MVP award as the top seed in the West
