Record producer and dancehall artiste, Demarco, recounted an emotional episode shared with Bounty Killer after he admitted to having a tear-jerking moment that came after listening to ‘Fallen Soldiers’.
In an interview with DJ Kash from Atlanta, the ‘Love My Life’ singer recalled the comical encounter with Bounty, along with other life-changing moments that have helped in shaping his career.
“Yow yute, yowww, di song bad!” Demarco noted in his best Bounty impersonation. “Yow dawg, when Fallen Soldier come on a Tivoli… yow, di rifle them tun on. Yow, mi white clothes, it was a all-white event, and I was all-black,” he added.
He also pointed out that after hearing congratulatory words from the veteran DJ, his level of confidence in his work was cemented.
Days after the event, however, Demarco recalled that he was shunned by Killa after a casual greeting went sour. This, he noted, bruised his self-esteem.
“I left the party, bro.. Yow, Killa dis mi dawg. How Killa fi diss me suh dawg?” Demarco recounted. “Eye water, eye swell… Pillow wet, pillow soak,” he recalled.
Demarco told DJ Kash that he never brought up the incident to Bounty despite running into him several times after.
He went on to write and produce some of the major chart-topping hits in dancehall, including Mission Riddim which features Mavado’s On The Rock and Junior Gong’s Jungle to Rema.
