International footballer Cristiano Ronaldo was slapped with a one-match suspension after appearing to make an obscene gesture during a match in Saudi Arabia on Sunday.

In footage being circulated on social media, Cristiano is seen cupping his ear and repeatedly thrusting his hand forward near his pelvis.

The incident happened minutes after Ronaldo’s team al Nassr defeated al Shabab 3-2 in the Saudi Pro League.

According to reports, the gesture appeared to be aimed at rival supporters, who could be heard chanting “Messi“.

The suspension means he will miss Al Nassr’s next league game set for Thursday.
