Cristiano Ronaldo continues to reaffirm his status as one of the greatest players of all time after scoring twice in Al Nassr’s 4-2 win over Al Ittihad to break the Saudi Pro League’s single-season scoring record with his 35th strike of the campaign.

Ronaldo, who entered the game one goal behind the previous record set by Moroccan Abderrazak Hamdallah(34), pulled level after scoring Al Nassr’s opening goal in the 45th minute. He returned at minute 69 to double Al Nassr’s lead, setting a new mark in the process.

The goals move his tally to a staggering 64 goals in 68 appearances for the Portugal football captain, who’s in his second season with the club.

Despite goals from Ali Littihad’s Suwailem Abdullah Awadh Salmeen and Farhah Ali Saeed in the 66th and 92 minutes

Abdulrahman Ghareeb’s 79th-minute penalty, followed by a last-gasp 95th-minute Meshari Al-Nemer strike, ensured Al Nassr’s win.

Ronaldo, who could feature in their Kings Cup final game on Friday, is now seven goals from 900 career goals.
