Reggae star Christopher Martin was recognised for his global impact and cultural ambassadorship through music after he was honoured with his own day in the City of New York over the Independence weekend.

The honour, which coincided with Jamaica’s Independence Week, officially declared August 9 as Christopher Martin Day in the U.S. city.

Martin. shared the accolade of recognition with his fans on his social media, expressing gratitude for the recognition of his 20 years of music contribution.

The “Big Deal” hitmaker, who was among the major performers at Jamaica’s Grand Gala Independence Day Celebrations in Kingston on August 6, was on hand in New York to accept the citation of honour.
