Three years after it’s original release as part of Chris Brown’s 2019 album ‘Indigo’; ‘under the influence’ has maintained its surge to become the number one globally streamed track on iTunes.

The feat follows weeks of the song being a trending track by social media personalities, especially dancers.

Breezy shared the news of the belated success with his Instagram followers on Tuesday with a post of the official stats to verify the singles overwhelming influence this summer.

“I REALLY REALLY APPRECIATE and LOVE YALL..❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🏽. #1 This is crazy to me… imagine the songs that were overlooked.. thank you team breezy. GEMS 🙏🏽❤️.”

Brown shared, as he encouraged his fans to check out more of his past works “Hope you guys are going back and re-listening to see what y’all may have missed. 🥰 R&B AINT DEAD..just allow it to blossom” he added.

The track was ironically not one of his main singles to promote the album and seemed relatively buried among other over 20 tracks on the extended version of the two-disc project. However, it began to pick up steam in the summer after being used by several Tik Tokers as the background songs for respective routines and dance challenges.

So much was the growing demand of the track its was reported that a music video was said to be in the works in support of its revived interests.

The track’s sharp popularity also created a historic moment for Brown, who became the first R&B artist to chart over 50 songs inside the top 40 of the Billboard hot 100.

Under the influence is currently at number 34 in its debut appearance on the charts.

It’s also currently Brown’s most popular track on Spotify, garnering more than 237 million streams at the time of publishing.
