The Group F clash between Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Borussia Dortmund is set to headline the return of Champions League football on Tuesday.
The fixture will be the first real test for the new-look PSG team and Captain Kylian Mbappe, who’s playing in his final season with the Parisian club following a ‘whirlwind’ summer negotiation.
The Ligue 1 champs, who have been having a turbulent start to their domestic campaign, including a loss in their last game, will be aiming for a morale-boosting rebound against the Germans when they line up at Parc de Prince.
Dortmund, who had an underwhelming stint last year, will be hunting redemption with a positive start against the French when they take the field for the second fixture.
Premier League club Newcastle United will also be seeking to make a statement in their return to Champions League football when they travel to the San Siro to face last year’s semi-finalist AC Milan in the group’s opener.
The “Magpies,” who’ve been out of European football for over two decades, will be looking to prove they deserve to be in Europe’s elite tournament with an encouraging result against the Italian giants.
The other notable fixtures on the day will see Champions Manchester City kick off their title defence against Serbian team Redstar Belgrade in Group H, while in Group B, La Liga winners Barcelona are set to open their campaign against Belgian side Royal Antwerp.
