Jamaica remains under a tropical storm warning as Tropical Storm Grace dumps heavy showers across the island.
In a news release issued at 2:00 pm, the Meteorological Service of Jamaica (Met Service said this means that conditions associated with a tropical storm are expected to continue across Jamaica today.
It said at 1:00 pm, the centre of Tropical Storm Grace was located Latitude 18.5 degrees North, Longitude77.5 degrees West, in the vicinity of Duncans, Trelawny and 40 kilometres east of Montego Bay.
The Met Service said that the forecast is for the centre of Grace to continue to move near or over Jamaica’s northern coastline this afternoon and then begin moving towards the Cayman Islands this evening and tonight.
Grace is expected to strengthen into a hurricane on Wednesday while moving farther away from Jamaica.
The Met Service said frequent outbreaks of heavy rainfall will continue to impact the island.
