Reggae Girl striker Khadija “Bunny” Shaw showed her readiness for the upcoming women’s football campaign after adding to the score line in Manchester City’s 4-3 penalty win over Leicester City in their pre-season competition in Australia.
Bunny a second-half substitute, set the tone for City after scoring their opening penalty following a scoreless result after 90 minutes.
City was near perfect from the spot, their only blemish, was a miss from the third kick. However, double saves from custodian Ayaka Yamashita ensured that the Manchester club emerged victorious in a drama-filled encounter.
It was Shaw’s first competitive game since recovering from a leg injury last season, which ruled her out of the final crucial games for the “LadyCitizens” who were narrowly edged by Chelsea for the WSL title.
The result means City are set to face the winner of the Paris Saint Germaine (PSG) vs Westham fixture in the next round.
