International Reggae star Buju Banton has chided Afrobeats for not giving enough credit to Dancehall and Reggae music.
Banton, the latest guest on the popular online podcast “Drink Champs” had some choice words for practitioners of African music during his appearance.

The “Driver A” hitmaker expressed blunt feelings towards the progression of the message of the increasingly popular music genre, which he asserts has strayed from the conscious uplifting roots of its foundation stalwarts.

Banton also noted similar sentiments toward the Reggae/Dancehall spin-off Latin genre- Reggaeton as he spoke about the subpar respect shown to the Island’s music which has inspired the creation of their music.
