The Bob Marley: One Love movie continues to etch its name into box office history after breaking into the top five highest-grossing biopics for a musician in the US.
The film, which raced into the number six spot among the highest-grossing list in its first month, pulled an additional $607,000 in its eighth week, improving its collective domestic box office haul to $96.6 million, leapfrogging the $96.4 earned by Elton John’s Biopic-“Rocket Man” for fifth, Billboard reports.
Bob Marley: One Love, the first live-action movie detailing the life of the legendary “King of Reggae,” previously broke the box office record for highest-grossing Valentine’s Day opening following its premiere, pulling $14 million in its first day.
“Walk The Line“(2005), inspired by country music legend Johnny Cash, is the next immediate film ahead of Marley at number four with $119.5 million, while 2022s “Elvis,” inspired by the “King of Rock and Roll”-$151 million, is number three.
2018’s “Bohemian Rhapsody,” the story of Freddie Mercury, the lead singer of the legendary rock band “Queen” remains the top-grossing musician biopic of all-time in the US, followed by the 2015 drama “Straight Outta Compton” inspired by iconic 90’s group NWA
