Jamaica’s reggae crooners Bob Marley and Chronixx have been included in the playlist for the January 20 inauguration function for President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris of the United States of America (USA).
The eclectic 45-song playlist, which was released on Friday, spans music from different eras and genres. DJ D-Nice and Issa Rae’s music company Raedio curated the playlist.
Included on the list is Bob Marley And The Wailers’ Could You Be Loved, which was released in 1980 and is from the 10-track album Uprising. The song is also included on Bob Marley And The Wailers’ greatest hits album, Legend.
The song selected from Chronixx, is Eternal Light, which is a combination with the American band Free Nationals. It was released as a single in 2019.
Bob Marley died in 1981 from cancer, but has been a top seller in the world since, while Chronixx has been a constant chart-topper in the last decade.
Meanwhile, the Biden/Harris inauguration playlist also has some empowering songs from a variety of American artistes and includes recent favourites Find Your Way Back by Beyonće and Levitating by Dua Lipa.
It also includes classics such as What a Fool Believes by Doobie Brothers, Fool In The Rain by Led Zeppelin, Give The People What They Want by the O’Jays, Lovely Day by Bill Withers and Got To Give It Up by Marvin Gaye.
