The resignation of former Reggae Girlz Head coach is now official after the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) reportedly accepted his end of tenure letter.
According to reports the Federation who initially dismissed calls for his removal just a few days ago following an open letter of no confidence by the Reggae Girlz, confirmed the decision this afternoon.
A statement on JFF’s official Twitter account said: “The Jamaica Football Federation would like to express sincere thanks and appreciation for the work that coach Vin Blaine has done with the Senior Women’s National Team. Unfortunately, he has decided against taking the team to the next level.”
Adding, “The JFF wishes him all the very best for the future.”
In the past 24-hours he had indicated his intention to step down from the role given the current unrest with the all involved, in a move he described as in the best interest for the program
This decision comes just under six months since his official appointment to the post and two weeks since the complaints of incompetence and derelict of duties by the Blaine led coaching staff.
Claims which the veteran coach has maintained innocence of such allegations and closes a very short chapter in his helm at national senior level.
A successor has yet to named however the JFF will have to be decided before their trip to Mexico to play in the next round of CONCACAF Women’s Championship qualifiers.
The competition resumes on July 4 and will see the girls tackle Mexico in their opening fixture at Estadio Universitario.
