Bayern topples Man United in 7-goal thriller

Bayern Munich were made to sweat by resurgent Manchester United as they triumphed 4-3 in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The game, which was pegged as the marquee fixture of the match day, threatened to be a one-sided affair after Bayern raced into 2-goals in the first half after Leroy Sane and Serge Gnarby scored in the 28th and 32nd minutes, respectively.

Sane’s strike was aided by an error from United keeper Andre Onana, who fumbled a long-range effort from the Germany international during his dive as the ball slipped through his grasp to roll into the goal for Bayern’s opener.

Gnarby’s goal was more straightforward, as he struck a powerful shot into the far corner of United’s goal following Jamal Musiala’s played off pass into the box to double their lead just after the half mark.

United’s nerves were settled after Rasmus Hojland cut the deficit with a 49th-minute shot; however, former Red Devils target Harry Kane restored their 2-goal lead following a 53rd-minute penalty.

Bayern would’ve thought the matter was settled following Mathys Tel’s 92nd-minute volley; however, two goals from Uited’s Casemiero in the 89th and 95th created an anxious finish, as the German managed to come out the better of the 7-goal result.

The result sees Bayern claim the early lead in Group A, while United plummeted to the foot of the standings behind FC Copenhagen and Galatasry after they played ou
