Bundesliga Champion Bayern Munich sent a strong signal for their readiness to defend their title following an emphatic 27-0 demolition of FC Rottach-Egern in a pre-season friendly.
There was however nothing friendly about how the German champs dismantled their opposition with four players registering hat tricks on the day.
Marcel Sabitzer, Jamal Musiala, and Mathys Tel all bagged five goals in the game with, Serge Gnarby finishing with four goals.
The Bayern demolition started as early as the third minute with Musiala firing a shot into the near post after showing some neat footwork inside the box to bag the first of his five after two and a half minutes.
Gnarby also kicked off his tally early, doubling Bayern’s lead one minute later, for their second goal in 60 seconds to go 2-0 up after four minutes.
Both players along with Tel secured their hattricks in a devastating first half which also included strikes from Konrad Laimer, Alphonso Davies, and Noussair Mazraoui for an 18-0 lead going into the break.
The second half was just as lethal, yielding 9 more Bayern goals, with Sabitzer coming into the fray with his five goals on the day. His effort was supported by goals from Ryan Gravenberch, Kingsley Coman, and embattled forward Sadio Mane whose 89th-minute strike completed the routing.
It’s the second 20-plus-goal victory for Bayern over the non-league outfit in recent years with their previous meeting in 2019 ending in a 23-0 scoreline on the day.
