Arnett Gardens and Mount Pleasant will have it all to play for in the second leg of their Jamaica Premier League semi-final following a pulsating 2-2 draw at Sabina Park on Monday.
The fixture which was the main feature of a doubleheader, lived up to its top billing, as both teams thrilled throughout the game.
The excitement started as early as the 18th minute with a Leonardo Rankin header just outside the six-yard box to steer home a corner kick as Mount Pleasant claimed the lead.
Arnett’s equalizer also came courtesy of a headed shot as Shai Smith latched on to an Ajuma Johnson cross which left the Mount Pleasant keeper a mere spectator as he could only watch the ball pass his goal line to level the scores.
The second half was just as competitive as the opening 45 minutes, with both teams scoring goals four minutes apart to raise the intensity of the outcome.
Mount Pleasant’s top marksman Trivante Stewart was again on target for the St Ann-based outfit as he outpaced the Arnett defenders inside the box, before slotting his shot past the on-rushing custodian to make it 2-1.
Arnett’s response was however swift as Captain Fabian Reid levelled the fixture four minutes later to make it 2-2 after 66 minutes.
Despite near misses by both teams, the deciding goal will have until the second leg as the game ended all squared after 90 minutes.
In the earlier fixture, Cavaliers SC took the advantage in their encounter with Harbour following a 1-0 hard fought 1-0 win at Sabina.
A 59th strike from Orlando Russell made all the difference as the number two seed; Cavs, verified their rank with another crucial win to move one step closer to another final appearance.
The return legs for both games are set for June 6 at the same venue.
