Jamaica yesterday recorded 315 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number to 54,480.
There were five additional deaths increasing the figure to 1,219.
The victims are an 82-year-old woman from Kingston and St Andrew, a 68-year-old man from Kingston and St Andrew, a 49-year-old man also from Kingston and St Andrew, a 67-year-old man from St Ann, and a 97-year-old man from Manchester.
The positivity rate has risen from 29.8 per cent to 31.3 per cent.
Of the 315 new cases, Kingston and St Andrew accounted for the highest number with 91.
St Catherine, in the meantime, accounted for the second-highest number of cases with 51; St James followed with 41; Westmoreland 31; St Ann 25; St Elizabeth with 23; Hanover 18; Clarendon 14; Trelawny seven; St Thomas six; Manchester five; Portland two; and St Mary one.
