Reggae Boyz striker Michail Antonio is set to return to English football after signing with Championship side Watford FC.

In a statement on Friday, the former Premier League side announced Antonio’s signing as a free agent to the club on a one year deal.

“Watford FC are delighted to complete the signing of experienced forward Michail Antonio,” the statement read highlighting his immense wealth of value in experience he will bring to the team.

Head Coach Alessio Dionisi plans to use that wealth of experience to complement the Championship’s youngest average starting line-up from a playing, mentoring and coaching perspective.

Antonio,36, who had short stint in the Middle East last year after his departure from WestHam United expressed optimism for his latest chapter.

“It’s a good set of boys here,” said Antonio to watfordfc.com. “They are focused and ready to show their abilities this season.
“Watford is a big club and hopefully I can come in and bring success and help wherever I can.
“I’ve scored a few goals against Watford! So hopefully I can score some for Watford now when I’m fully up to speed.”

The one-year deal subject to international clearance could see the Jamaican can take his place in the squad for tomorrow’s clash at home to Stoke City (Saturday September 12, 3:00pm KO).

It would be the first time would be playing a game in England since December 2024.

The striker will dawn the number 18 shirt at Vicarage Road. He is the club’s 12th signing of the summer. The team are 12th in the Championship having won two and drawn two of their first six games under Dionisi
