Legendary Reggae superstar Damian “Jr Gong” Marley officially earned his first Brit-certified platinum plaque in the UK for his 2005 classic “Weclome To Jamrock”

The track’s platinum certification, which confirms sales of at least 600,000 units in the UK, marks a sustained uptake of the Anthemic Marley release, having earned the silver for cumulative streams/ sales equivalent of 200,000 units in the area in 2017.

“Welcome to Jamrock” was among the major singles from his critically acclaimed, Grammy-winning “Welcome To Jamrock” album, which has also received gold certification in the UK.

The update is also the second certification in as many weeks for the Grammy-winner, having scored Gold for his collab with Skrillex on their Dub/EDM classic”Mek It Bun Dem” last week (Sept. 26). That came two weeks after picking up Silver for the reflective banger “Road To Zion” ft rap icon Nas.

The feat not only adds to Marley’s expansive raft of certifications in the market but also reaffirms the continued timelessness of his music, which, like his Legendary father, King Of Reggae Bob Marley, retains that massive cross-generational appeal through its compelling messaging that continues to resonate with existing reggae lovers and newer Global music audiences.
