As the countdown to Carnival continues, ZIMI Records is bridging the musical gap by giving Soca a dancehall flair following the release of the “Soca Bunx” juggling.
The drop, a soca flip of the ultra-popular “Big Bunx Riddim”, sees some of dancehall and soca’s finest recruited to deliver an exciting compilation of Caribbean vibes to fuel the revelry for the carnival season.
In an exclusive with Sleek Jamaica Media, CEO of ZIMI Entertainment, Nicholas “Zimi Nick” Mahfood, spoke about the idea behind the fuse.
“Soca Bunx” seamlessly blends the high-tempo soca feel while retaining the hard-hitting core dancehall elements to deliver a kaleidoscope of Caribbean excitement.
The inclusion of top soca personalities Travis World and DJ Private Ryan in the production process ensured the authenticity of the final version of the riddim, “Zimi” explained.
Soca heavy hitters Voice and Nessa Preppy are among the noted names to kick off the first phase of releases with remixes to RajahWild’s “Wild Out” and Skeng’s “Shalalala.”
Following the new releases last week, the tracks have already received a signal of approval from both dancehall and soca lovers.

The excitement is expected to increase with several undisclosed “Soca giants” confirmed for the project, which is set to continue its rollout leading up to Carnival.
