African superstars Burna Boy and Rema are singing joyfully as they both won major awards at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday, November 19.

Billboard is the latest music award body to add an Afrobeats category.

The Burna Boy won Top Afrobeats Artiste.

In accepting the award, he said “This is dedicated to Africa and every artiste coming out of Africa now. The future’s bright… This is just the tip of the iceberg but you’re gonna see the whole vision soon“.

Meanwhile, Rema won the award for Top Afrobeats Song with his hit collaboration ‘Calm Down’ remix featuring Selena Gomez.

While thanking everyone Rema called the prize “a celebration of unity and the global domination of Afrobeats“.
