Reggae Boyz forward Shamar Nicholson opened his account in the French Ligue 1 on Sunday after scoring the winning goal for Clermont in their 1-0 victory over FC Lorient.
Nicholson’s goal came via 69th minute penalty which proved to be the decisive factor in a very defensive game.
The goal should be a confidence boost for Nicholson, who has experienced a stuttered start in France since his summer loan move from the Russian premier league team Spartak Moscow.
The win, which is Clermont’s second of the season, is also expected to be a morale-boosting result
The result is also expected to be a morale boost to the struggling Clermont, who now moves to 17th on nine points with their second win of the season.
Nicholson is next set to be in action on Saturday when he suits up for the Reggae Boyz for their CONCACAF Nations League fixture against Canada at the National Stadium.
