Raheem Sterling delivered a superb performance, including a goal for Chelsea, as they beat Burnley 4-1 in their Premier League encounter at Turf Moor on Saturday.
Sterling had a hand in three of Chelsea’s four goals as the “Blues” continued their turnaround under new boss Mauricio Pottechino.
The England international started by forcing a Burnley own goal in the 42nd minute after his shot from the left side of the box deflected off Al Dahkil before looping into the Burnley goal, cancelling out Wilson Odobert’s 15th-minute strike.
Sterling was again active in Chelsea’s second goal after pulling a penalty following another driving run into the Burnley box before being fouled.
Cole Palmer calmly converted his shot from the spot to make it 2-1 after 50 minutes.
Sterling returned 15 minutes later to put his own name on the scoresheet after clinically putting his effort into the Burnley net following a neatly laid-off pass from teammate Conor Gallagher inside the box to triple Chelsea’s score.
Nicholas Jackson finished things off for the “Londoners” in the 74th minute with a low drive past the Burnley custodian for Chelsea’s fourth goal.
The score remained unchanged after the 90 minutes as the referee’s whistle confirmed the three points for the former champions, who now move up to 11th on the standings on 11 points following back-to-back wins in the league.
