A 16-year-old girl from Maryland was fatally stabbed by another teen girl allegedly during a dispute over McDonald’s dipping sauce.

The victim, identified as Naima Liggon, 16, was brought to a local hospital on Sunday, where she succumbed to her wounds, the Metropolitan Police Department said.

According to WUSA-TV, police said Liggon was stabbed during an altercation with another girl she was traveling with.

On Monday, a detective testified in court that the girls were at a Washington D.C. McDonald’s together, ordered food, and then got into a car together, according to WUSA-TV.

An argument then developed between the two over the “sweet and sour sauce” they received, which later escalated, leading up to the stabbing.

The other girl was taken into custody on charges of second-degree murder while armed, officials said.

She had the weapon in question, police said.

“At the time of her arrest, the suspect was found to be in possession of a knife,” DC police said in a news release.

The teen who also appeared in court pleaded “not involved,” which is the juvenile equivalent of not guilty, as per the Washington Post. It’s understood that her legal team is arguing a case of self-defence.
