A California mother is set to appear in court to answer to a child endangerment charge after reportedly filling her baby’s bottle with alcohol.
According to reports, Honesti de La Torre, 37, was slapped with the charge on Monday after her 7-week-old child was found intoxicated over the weekend.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said that deputies were summoned to an unincorporated area of Rialto, 55 miles east of Los Angeles.
It was upon arrival that they discovered the child was intoxicated.
Officials said de la Torre was driving through Rialto when she made a stop in order to give the baby alcohol in an attempt to stop the child from crying.
The current condition of the baby is yet to be revealed.
De la Torre is being detained in the West Valley Detention Center on a $60,000 bond.
It’s still unknown if the prosecution will pursue the case as a felony or misdemeanor charge.
