World U-20 Triple Jump championship Jaydon Hibbert declared himself ready to challenge the international senior ranks following a second-place finish in his debut Diamond League meet in the Monaco on Friday.
Hibbert who was the Junior among the field looked anything but overwhelmed on his circuit debut as the precocious talent produced a best of 17.66m to finish just four cm shy of the 17.70m winning jump by Hugues Fabrice Zanco of Burkin Faso.
The 18-year-old’s best effort came on his fourth jump of an impressive series of 17 metre jumps which topped the leader board until the final round of competition.
Despite picking up his first loss in all competitions this season, the outing marks a great experience for the National champion who heads into his first World Championships with a World Lead of 17.86m.
Hibbert is seen as a Gold medal contender for the event in Budapest next month.
