Game one of the Western Conference finals between the Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets is set to get under on Tuesday when the two take the court at the Ball Arena, Denver.

The series will be a rematch of the 2020 Conference finals, where the Lakers triumphed 4-1 before eventually going on to lift the NBA crown in the championship round.

Denver will no doubt have that result in their mind as they seek to turn the tables starting with a winning start at home in the opening two games.

The Nuggets, who came into the playoffs as the number-one team in the conference, have so far verified that rank after wrapping up their previous rounds inside six games and will be confident in providing a more competitive match-up this year.

The Lakers, who are returning to the pre-championship round for the first time since 2020 will feel confident of pulling off a repeat performance following their 4-2 triumph over outgoing champions Golden State Warriors in the conference semis.

The former champs, who were in jeopardy of missing the playoffs, have also proven their title-contending qualities by clinching their previous two series in game six to reach the final round.

The series may boil down to which team has the strongest desire, with the Lakers seeking to prove they’re capable of another title while Denver aims at a maiden championship finals appearance.

Tip-off time for the game is set for 7:30 pm.
