The Steph Curry vs Lebron James showdown has been confirmed after Golden State Warriors beat the Sacramento Kings 120-100 on Sunday, to clinch their series 4-3 and set up a meeting with the LA Lakers in the second round of the playoffs.
After being forced to an unexpected game 7 by the Kings, Golden State allayed all fears of missing out on a clash with the Lakers with a commanding win in Sacramento on the weekend.
The Lakers had already secured qualification to round two in game 6 of their series against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Defending finals MVP Steph Curry, sent a strong message about his form ahead of the clash, by dropping a mammoth 50 points eight rebounds, and six assists as a preview of what to expect from the champs in the next round.
The face-off will be the latest in what has become a marque fixture between the two all-stars who have met four times in the finals while James played for the Cleveland Cavaliers, with Curry leading that head-to-head 3-1.
While games between the two have become more frequent since Lebron transferred to the Lakers, a championship clash has, however, become impossible with both players now in the same conference.
The series will be the first time both teams will square off in the postseason since James’ arrival, with the Warriors failing to make the playoffs in 2020 as the Lakers went on to Championship glory.
