Many-time NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers moved a step closer to the second round of the playoffs after going 3-1 up in their series against the Memphis Grizzlies following a 117-111 victory at the Crypto.com Arena on Monday.

In what has been a contentious series between the two Western Conference teams, overtime was needed to decide game 4’s winner after both teams remained level in regulation time.

Game 4 needed overtime to decide the winner as both teams claimed two quarters each in regular time.

After claiming the opening quarter 29-23 the Lakers lost a bit of steam as they relinquished back-to-back quarters; 25-29 and 27-31 in the second and third.

Led by a Lebron James double-double-22 points and 20 rebounds and with an Austin Reaves team-high 23 points, the Lakers recovered to take the fourth quarter-23-21 and force overtime.

That momentum was maintained in the extra period, as they pulled off a 13-7 OT win to double their lead in the series 3-1.

The Lakers will now be seeking to close out the series while the Grizzlies will be fighting to keep it alive when they return to Memphis for game five on Wednesday.
