Comedian Chris Rock was finally able to vent publicly about Will Smith’s Oscar awards slap following his comedy special on Sunday. However, opinions on social media were split on the manner in which he got his jabs back at the actor.
Rock’s roasting of Smith came towards the end of his Netflix streamed special, where he let off some built-up steam from the infamous incident on stage.
Among the sour spots in Rock’s commentary was the public infidelity in Smith’s marriage.
“We’ve all been cheated on…but none of us have ever been interviewed by the person who cheated on us on television, none of us,” Rock said.
He also noted that Smith is seen as a b—tch by many in the entertainment community for his slapping him during the live televised award show.
Some fans found the jokes entertaining and good fun.
However, others were bemused by the comedian’s rant about the I am Legend actor.
Smith has yet to publicly comment on the jokes.
During the 2022 Oscar awards, Smith infamously walked on stage and assaulted Rock on live TV for making jokes about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith.
Smith won his first ever Oscar on the night, for best lead actor in a Film for his portrayal of Richard Williams, the father of the Williams sisters in the biopic King Richard.
He subsequently apologized for his reaction, however, was given a 10-year ban from returning to the awards.
