R &B ‘Star boy’ The Weeknd continues to shine among his peers after becoming the first artiste to earn three diamond-selling singles from the same album.
Tracks such as The Hills, Can’t Feel My Face and Earned It which formed part of his critically acclaimed 2015 album ‘Beauty Behind the Madness all scored diamond certifications from the Recording Institute Associates of America (RIAA).
News of the feat was broken on his 33rd birthday on February 16.
The feat made the Canadian-born singer the first artiste in music history to have three individual tracks from one album attain the prestigious status.
Both “The Hills” and “Starboy” are currently 11x-Platinum, while the album itself has been RIAA-certified 6x-Platinum as of December 2022.
The certification is the Weekend’s fifth diamond-selling single with his 2020 smash-Blinding lights selling as well as his 2016 single – Star Boy also pulling the equivalent of 10 million in sales.
The achievement makes him the artiste with the third most Diamond certifications for individual singles as per the Insider.
Only Bruno Mars (6) Drake (5) and Post Malone (5) are ahead of him as artistes with at least five diamond-selling singles.
