UWI student Matthew Hyde, who was recently charged in connection with the torture of his 19-year-old ex-girlfriend for three days on the premise of cheating allegations, was today slapped with three additional charges and remanded until March 9.
The additional charges include false imprisonment, malicious communication, and assault occasioning bodily harm.
When the matter was called in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court this morning, Attorney representing the accused Peter Champagnie, KC alluded that the defense was just being served with documents relating to the case.
Champagnie subsequently indicated that the defense should be granted additional time to review the document before rendering an argument. This request was granted and the accused was remanded until March 9 when the matter will be brought forth.
Based on reports, Hyde allegedly beat and burned the victim with a clothes iron after interrogating her for hours about her alleged infidelity.
The victim was later discovered at 10:00 p.m., on Thursday, February 9 after a report was made to the police.
Hyde was subsequently arrested and charged.
