“Longer tweets are now live”. This was declared by Twitter on Wednesday after officially removing the 280-character limit on its platform, as it began to allow users in the United States to tweet in the long form posts.
The social media giant shared the news via its official account on Wednesday afternoon by posting an extra long repetitious tweet saying –“More words, more words, more words” as a working example of its announcements.
The news makes good on their promise last year by the company to extend the previous limit of 280 characters which according to reports, the revised ceiling has been raised to 2,500 words — as well as photos, videos, and GIFs in posts.
The roll-out of the improved character limit is however only to available Twitter blue subscribers the company noted at the end of their tweet- “Longer tweets are now live in the US @twitterblue subscribers”
The move reserved feature comes months after allowing subscribers to officially edit their tweets.
The new features are aimed at enticing users to subscribe to its paid service which falls also acts as a verification method by the platform.
No date has yet been given as to when the global rollout will take place.
