Former English Premier League (EPL) champion Chelsea kicked off their return to league action on Tuesday, with a comfortable 2-0 win over Bournemouth FC at Stamford Bridge to main their push for a top-four finish.
Chelsea, who had slipped outside of the top four champions league spots, after beginning to revert to a spell of poor performance before the world cup break and would have entered the game, seeking to snap a record three consecutive losses.
Goals from Kai Haverts and Mason Mount ensured that was the case for the home team as they kick-started a winning trend.
Havertz opened in the 16th minute courtesy of a Raheem Sterling assist, before tuning provider himself after setting up Mason Mount in minute 24 to double the lead.
An advantage that held for the full 90 minutes as they added a well-needed three points to their accounts moving up to seventh on 24 points which brings well-needed respite to the under-pressure boss Graham Potter.
The other game on the day sees Manchester United tackle Nottingham Forest.
