Japanese officials have indicated that at least four people have been killed and 100 injured after a typhoon wreaked havoc on the southern island of Kyushu on Sunday morning.
It is understood that one of the victims was killed when his car was submerged in flooding, and another died after being buried in a landslide. The remaining two victims however were found without vital signs.
The typhoon which is equivalent to a category four hurricane brought gusts of up to 234 kilometers per hour (145mph), destroying homes, and disrupting transport and businesses.
So far, the country’s capital Tokyo has experienced with the Tozai underground line suspended because of flooding. Bullet train services, ferries and hundreds of flights have been cancelled; shops and businesses have shut.
Additionally, 140,000 homes have been without electricity since the typhoon commenced.
