The 48-hour curfew which was imposed in Whitfield Town, St Andrew has been extended until Friday September 9 at 6:00 p.m. This extension comes amid the flair up of gun violence in the community.

On Tuesday, a 33-year-old woman was shot and killed at her home in St Andrew. The deceased has been identified as Tashana Josephs.

It is understood that the shooting took place within the vicinity of Maxfield Avenue and Swettenham Road. Further reports outlined that Josephs was in bed when she was shot in the head by armed assailants.

The boundaries for the outlined curfew includes North along Berwick Road from Waltham Park Road to Maxfield Avenue.  East along Maxfield Avenue to Waltham Park Road, South along Alexander Road from Maxfield Avenue to Waltham Park Road and West along Waltham Park Road to Berwick Road.

Residents are also being reminded to remain within their premises during curfew hours unless authorized in writing by the ground commander.
