23-time Grand Slam Champion Serena Williams is set to continue her farewell tour tonight, when she takes the court at the Western & Southern Open .

Speaking ahead of the fixture tournament CEO Katie Haas expressed excitement and anticipation for Williams’ participation;

“Serena Williams is a global icon whose impact certainly transcends tennis,” Haas said “We are fortunate to have seen her lift our trophy on two occasions and to welcome her here for one of the last events of her incredible career ” she added.

Williams 40, is said to play 10th seed Emma Raducanu in her second match since her hint of impending retirement.

It will be Williams’ toughest opponent since her return to Tennis after a year long injury layoff when she lined up against the 19-year-old who is also the reigning US open champion.

 A Williams win could see her face 2016 Cincinnati champion Karolina Pliskova in the next round with a possibility of meeting her sister Venus in a potential quarterfinal matchup based on the brackets.

Williams who asserted that she would be evolving away from tennis is widely expected to hang up her racket at this year’s US Open.
