Two women are among the seven persons who were detained in an operation carried out by the Joint Anti-Gang Task Force (JAGTF) in the community of Caribbean Estates, Portmore St Catherine this morning.

It is understood that the operation was launched to curtail scamming offences that have arisen in the community. In addition to the arrests, lawmen also seized a number of electronic devices as well as a high-end motor vehicle.

Reports also outlined that the suspects also attempted to destroy critical pieces of evidence but was unsuccessful as lawmen were still able to garner sufficient pieces of evidence.

On Wednesday, Lawmen also seized a quantity of cash, including Jamaican, United States and Canadian currencies during simultaneous anti-narcotics operations in the Avery, on Charlemont Avenue in St Andrew, and at least three locations in St James.

The operation also yielded six high end motor vehicles including two Mercedes Benz and a BMW.

In addition to the seizure, five suspects were also detained.
