A Virginia resident was detained at the Washington Dulles International Airport after he allegedly tried to flee to Jamaica following his wife’s murder.
The accused Adrian Lewis 49 was charged on Tuesday with first-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the disappearance of 35-year-old Shanita Eure-Lewis.
Reports from the Newport News Police Department is that on Sunday July 17 at around 8:40 a.m., a missing person’s report was filed Eure-Lewis’ family when she did not return to church as planned and then could not be reached throughout the day.
This subsequently prompted an investigation which yielded enough evidence to convict Lewis of first-degree murder.
The evidence yielded includes a significant amount of blood found in Lewis’ truck as well as a bloody shovel.
Further reports also revealed that Eure Lewis’ passport and credit cards were found in Adrian’s luggage when he was captured at the Washington Dulles airport.
Meanwhile, Police said Tuesday that they are still searching for her body. Police however noted that the search has been narrowed to a few specific locations.
