Officials have said that 29-year-old woman was sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole on Thursday June 9, for her role in the 2020 killing of her 9-year-old stepson Emrik Osuna.

Emrik died on September 2, 2020, at St Luke’s Hospital in Boise following months of emotional and physical abuse.

The accused Monique Osuna and her husband, Erik Osuna, Emrik Osuna’s biological father, both pleaded guilty to the boy’s murder as part of an agreement that took the death penalty off the table.

Footage from a nanny camera revealed the couple relentlessly abusing Emrik Osuna in the week before his murder, around late August 2020. Throughout the footage, Monique was seen yelling profanity at the boy while he does hours upon hours of exercises.

In another instance, the accused was also seen hammering countless blows on the child with a frying after he was caught praying for the abuse to end.

In a similar video, she repeatedly beat him around his body with the frying pan while he did the same exercises. Other evidence brought forth by Prosecutors also revealed that on numerous occasions, Emrik was forced to exercise for over twelve hours and forced to drink water from the toilet as punishment if he refused.

Other evidence presented also revealed that Monique often made Emrik sleep on the floor or a dark closet for weeks on end. Meanwhile, a sentencing date for Erik Osuna has not yet been scheduled.
