In what could be described as a well-executed scene from a movie, almost $8 million dollars was reportedly stolen from a St Mary based Western Union on Tuesday.
According to reports, the thieves removed a vault which contained various currencies at the Oracabessa located institution.
Authorities stated that the robbers were almost expert in their maneuvering during the heist.
They noted that; the cameras on the outside were spray painted with back paint, before the grilles were pried open, for their entrance.
The stolen monies includes: J$6,422,146, US$5,935, £1,720 ,CA $700, £1,720 and €670.
Commanding officer for the St Mary polices; Superintendent Bobette Morgan-Simpson, noted that the robbers were also fully masked and showed no apparent distinguishing features on their profiles at the moment which would indicate an identity.
“It was well planned and well executed so we have no idea who these persons are,” she said speaking to a media outlet.
It’s reported that the robbery took place in the early hours of the morning as the institution’s hired security firm, Hawkeye, was said to be alerted at approximately 3:27 am and observed that the building’s grilles were pried open. The missing vault was discovered shortly after.
