Popstar Britney Spears and fiancé Sam Asghari have lost their baby just one month after her pregnancy was announced.
Spears made the announcement via joint statement on her Instagram page on Saturday.
“It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that we have lost our miracle baby early in the pregnancy,” the post read “This is a devastating time for any parent.”
“Perhaps we should have waited to announce until we were further along, However, we were overly excited to share the good news ” it continued.
“Our love for each other is our strength. We will continue trying to expand our beautiful family. We are grateful for all. We Kindly ask for Privacy during this difficult moment.”
The post was captioned with more sentiments of gratitude by Spears; “We are grateful for what we have in the process of expanding our beautiful family 💝 Thank you for your support.”
The couple, who got engaged last September, had shared their hopes of expanding their family in future.
In April Spears to the ‘gram’ to share that she was pregnant; “So I got a pregnancy test … and uhhhhh well … I am having a baby.”
During an interview with BBC following the announced pregnancy, Asghari shared that they wanted to the pregnancy years prior.
“I mean this should have happened three years ago, to be honest with you,” he said. “When you’re in a relationship with someone that you’re truly in love with, you want to re-create, and so this is something I want to do.”
However, that wasn’t an option for couple until recently as Spears who locked into conservatorship shared that she was forced to retain an IUD contraceptive as part of the condition of the holding.
“Inside of myself right now so I don’t get pregnant ” she said adding that “I deserve to have the same rights as anybody does by having a child, a family, any of those things.”
In November the “Toxic” hitmaker won her legal battle to end her 13-year conservatorship following the overwhelming pressure from the ‘Free Britney’ movement to shape.
