Shab Don freed of gun charges

Top tier dancehall producer Shab Don, has reportedly been acquitted of illegal possession of firearm and ammunition following proceedings at the Gun Court on Thursday.

The, One Don Riddim hit maker, whose given name is Linval Thompson Jr, was reportedly freed of the charges after the prosecution offered no evidence was offered against the producer.

Shab Don, was charged for allegedly being in breach of the Corruption Prevention Act after reportedly offering a police officer a sum of $2 million dollars to remove an illegal firearm, which was said to be in his Mercedes-Benz before it was searched by the authorities.

The charges stem from a 2021 incident where the vehicle in question was reportedly intercepted by Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), while traveling along Old Harbour in October, of which Thompson and co accused Romaro Scott were occupants. He was subsequently charged with attempted bribery.

Shab Don is known as one of the premier hitmakers of the new wave of ‘trap-dancehall’ productions. He has worked with some of dancehalls heavy weights such as Vybz kartel, Squash and the 6ix along with Teejay.

The collaboration spawning hits such as Any weather, Band mind and Henny & Weed among several others.   

His records label has shas charting hits from the likes of Vybz Kartel’s World Government, Bad Mind on the One Don riddim and Any Weather, which was the first single to be released on his most renowned riddim, the G6ixx.
