Minister of local government Desmond McKenzie has announced that the restrictions placed on funerals have been lifted.
This announcement comes after Prime Minister Andrew Holness announced on Thursday in the sitting of the House of Representatives that all DRMA acts will be lifted.
McKenzie also highlighted that burials will be held daily and will not be restricted to a time limit or the amount of mourners that will be in attendance.
Since COVID-19 in 2020, there has been a heavy restriction placed on the amount of persons that may be in attendance at burials and funerals.
In April 2020, funerals were limited to a ten person attendance, inclusive of the clergy and mourners, and could only take place at a cemetery while the viewing was conducted at the respective funeral homes.
In addition, funerals could only take place during the weekdays.
However, as the case count subsided, the restriction was relaxed and made room for a twenty person attendance.
