The 2018 World Cup participant Reggae Girlz, will kick off their quest to play in the 2023 tournament set for Paris, France when they take the field against Bermuda at the National Stadium on Thursday night.
The fixture will be their first of the CONCACAF Women’s Championship tournament, which for the first time, is set to double as World Cup and Olympic qualifiers.
The Girlz, who have been drawn in Group B, will play four other teams – Bermuda, Dominica Republic, Cayman Islands, and Grenada in a round-robin format, with the winner automatically advancing to the knockout stage.
The 51st ranked Reggae Girls, who should enter as favorite top their group, will also be expected to challenge for Championship honors, as they vie for a second World Cup birth.
They’re set to play two games in quick succession, with their second fixture coming three days later against Grenada on Sunday, at the Kirani James National Stadium.
With star striker Kadijah ‘Bunny’ Shaw, finding spry form and no reported injury concerns in the team all is set for credible showing for the girls as they begin their Cup campaign.
Kick off for the Thursday’s game against Bermuda is set for 6 pm.
