36 COVID-19 cases, 5 deaths

Jamaica on Friday recorded 36 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number to 128,354.

There were five additional deaths, increasing the figure to 2,844. One death is under investigation, increasing the number of deaths under investigation to 414. One death was coincidental death, increasing the coincidental deaths to 226.

The deceased are:

  • An 81-year-old man from Portland (died April 2021)
  • A 76-year-old woman from Portland (died September 2021)
  • A 95-year-old woman from Portland (died September 2021)
  • A 35-year-old woman from St James (died January – February 2022)
  • A 68-year-old woman from St James (died January – February 2022)

The positivity rate decreased from 6.9 per cent to 6.4 per cent. The total number of tests: 2,440.

Of the 36 new cases, Clarendon accounted for the highest number with 8.

Kingston and St Andrew in the meantime, accounted for the second-highest number of cases with 7; St James followed with 5; St Catherine with 4; Hanover, St Thomas, St Ann, Trelawny and Westmoreland with 2 each; Manchester and St Elizabeth with 1 each; Portland and St Mary and Westmoreland recorded no new cases.
