23 COVID-19 cases, 5 deaths

Jamaica on Friday recorded 23 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number to 128,500.

There were five additional deaths, increasing the figure to 2,863. One death was coincidental death, increasing the number of coincidental deaths to 227. No deaths are under investigation.

The deceased are:

  • An 84-year-old woman from St James
  • A 69-year old woman from St James
  • A 43-year old woman from St James
  • An 81-year-old woman from St James
  • A 90-year-old woman from St James

The deaths occurred in August 2021.

The positivity rate increased from 3.0 per cent to 3.3 per cent. The total number of tests: 3,042.

Of the 23 new cases, St James and Kingston and St Andrew both accounted for the highest number with 6 each.

Westmoreland, in the meantime, accounted for the second-highest number of cases with 4; Hanover and St Catherine followed with 2 each; Manchester, St Ann and St Elizabeth with 1 each. Clarendon, Portland, St Thomas, St Mary and Trelawny recorded no new cases.
