Jamaica on Thursday recorded 173 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number to 87,970.
There were 20 additional deaths, increasing the figure to 2,153. Three deaths are under investigation, increasing the number of deaths under investigation to 323.
The deceased are:
- A 56-year old man from Hanover.
- A 72-year old man from Hanover.
- A 76-year old man from Hanover.
- A 92-year old man from Hanover.
- A 50-year old woman from Hanover.
- A 49-year old woman from Hanover.
- A 44-year old woman from Hanover.
- A 92-year old man from Hanover.
- A 47-year old woman from Hanover.
- An 83-year old woman from Hanover.
- An 84-year old man from Hanover.
- A 70-year old man from Hanover.
- A 56-year old man from Hanover.
- A 54-year old woman from Hanover.
- A 75-year old woman from Hanover.
- A 91-year old woman from Hanover.
- A 79-year old man from Hanover
- A 76-year old man from St Mary.
- A 78-year old man from St Mary.
- A 91-year old man from Portland.
The deaths occurred between August 23 – October 19, 2021.
The positivity rate increased from 11.9 per cent to 15.7 per cent. Number of tests: 1,537.
Of the 174 new cases, Kingston and St Andrew accounted for the highest number with 40.
St Catherine, in the meantime, accounted for the second-highest number of cases with 33; St Ann followed with 26; Portland with 19; St Thomas with 12; Clarendon and St James with 8 each; Hanover and Manchester with 6 each; Trelawny with 5; St Elizabeth and Westmoreland with 4 each; St Mary with 2.
