A 14-year-old girl is currently in police custody, after fatally shooting an 11-year-old boy at a Dallas apartment complex parking lot after retrieving a gun during an argument with another child, according to police.

Local law enforcement shared that the 14-year-old shot in the direction of the girl she had an altercation with, however, struck the 11-year-old boy who was a bystander on Sunday afternoon.

“Everyone involved are juveniles and this is just a horrible incident,” police Sgt Warren Mitchell said.

The 11-year-old, who has been identified as D’evan McFall, was taken to a hospital, where he died.

According to reports; the 14-year-old shooter ran from the scene of the incident but was later taken into custody at a nearby apartment complex.

The teen whose identity has been withheld by authorities is understood to be currently held at a juvenile justice center and is expected to be charged with murder.

The weapon was also reported to have been recovered by the Police.

The investigation is said to be ongoing.
